Neither of these is the greatest photo, but I was so thrilled to see the first sailboats out on Lake St. Clair when just 2 weeks ago it was frozen. The contrast is amazing!

CONSTRUCTIVE AND HELPFUL CRITICISM FOR PHOTOS, PART III
9 comments:
I did it again - I was sure I'd posted a comment to these yesterday. They both totally fit with the season theme and I am amazed by the transformation of the place. I certainly wouldn't like to risk being in a sailboat and possibly fall into the cold cold water.
I love the grasses in the foreground of the sailboats and the impressive detail and sharpness in the ice. I wish you had let us see a bit more of Keith's face possibly by trying Edit - Adj - Shadow-Highlight.
If you post a comment and it "takes," it will show up in your mailbox within a minute or two, usually, at least mine do.
Thanks!
Yeah, I should try adjusting the shadows, I really did loose a ;lot of detail in the face etc, didn't I. I had some without Keith that were better in some ways, but having him in shows how big the ice chunks were.
Remember, I am leaving shortly for NY and will be off-line prolly for about two weeks. Prolly won't get to try the shadows adjustment until after I get back.
Will be thinking of you and your family on your trip. Hope all goes well and you give mom a good send off. Look forward to your return.
Thank you so much.
We are leaving THURSDAY MORNING (or midday) but the next two days will be very very busy with prep and I won't have time for much blogging or emailing.
Or playing with photos to lighten shadows, LOL! (Which I would like to try.)
I hope that you and Geoff and Val and families have a good fortnight.
Edit - Adj - Shadow-Highlight.
I don't have an edit/adj/shadow hightlight on mine--I'm using an older version, remember, I couldn't install it on my computer.
:-(
I wish I did, I need it!
What a shame - I find that very useful! I would say it is more useful than say combining two different exposures together.
